The city of Bradford is situated in the English county of West Yorkshire. Lying near to the Pennines Bradford was ideally placed to profit during the time of the industrial revolution. In truth, during the nineteenth century, the town of Bradford was at the forefront of the Industrial revolution and the town very quickly became an important international centre of textile manufacture, especially in wool and the city of Bradford gained the name of being the world’s wool capital. As a result of the plentiful raw materials of soft water, coal and iron ore the town witnessed extremely rapid growth of its manufacturing base and an equally quick population growth.
