If your life is lacking a bit of amore, it is time to take a trip to the southern region of Italy. Many tourists are slightly nervous when it comes to visiting Napoli thanks to a reputation filled with crime and the unknown. The truth is that real Italian life can only be seen whilst wandering the busy streets of Naples.

You will find that most Napoli guidebooks tell you to veer towards the port side of the city where most tourists sit sipping cappuccino. While the docks are certainly convenient for catching boats to nearby Amalfi, absolutely do not miss out on the grit and charm of this town.

If you are on a diet, Napoli is not going to be the place for you. Also known as Naples, the city has wicked food. Pizza was created here, which should tell you everything. The chocolate shops are sinful as are the pastry ones.

You can purchase handmade Italian cameos in nearly every tourist town surrounding Naples, but they are all made within Napoli itself. Putting on those walking shoes will allow you to visit the many small shops inside of the city that craft the best cameos in the world.

The best thing about Napoli is it is making a comeback. Known as a hidden gem by serious travelers, it had a bad reputation for a long time. The reputation was not really deserved, and travel writers are now realizing as much.

One just has to take a look around to realize the true beauty of the city. This is not the sham touristy images on a brochure. These are real people. They hang out drinking cappuccino like they have for hundreds of years. You should just drink it all in as well.

Once you are settled, get out and just walk the downtown area of Naples. You will find all kinds of authentic, fascinating people. You can watch talented artists turn a piece of wood into the most amazing toy. The experiences will leave you fulfilled.

You might be hesitant to check out Napoli. Do not be. It is tremendous. One visit and you will be hooked. It is my favorite Italian city. Unlike Rome and other cities, life actually feels like it is not tailored around the almighty tourist dollar.
