Bass fishing is a pastime enjoyed by many from all walks of life, young and old alike. Once youve tried out bass fishing, it is likely that youll want your own boat. Looking for your first bass fishing boat is a very exciting occasion, but it is best to get some advice as a first time buyer of a bass fishing boat.
First, make sure that you have the right kind of vehicle so that you can tow your bass boat. Many vehicles are not made to tow boats behind them. A fully loaded bass boat with trailer, full gas tank, tackle, etc., may weigh more than 3500 pounds. To pull something that heavy, you’ll need a truck or car that can handle that kind of load, especially if you’re likely to pull it up mountains or hills.
The Right Size and Material
When you are trying to decide what size of boat you will need, think about where youll be doing most of your fishing. On a larger body of water, youll probably want a boat which is at least 19 feet in length. On a smaller body of water though, you can use a smaller boat and a smaller outboard motor. Youll also have a choice as to what material your boat is composed of. A bass boat will usually be made of aluminum or fiberglass. There are pros and cons to each material. If youll be doing the bulk of your fishing on a small lake, an aluminum boat may be for you.
For a smoother ride on larger bodies of water, a fiberglass boat is the way to go. While more expensive than aluminum (most of the time), a fiberglass boat is more durable and will not be blown about by wind nearly so much as one made of aluminum. Think about your options and your needs before deciding and making a purchase of a bass fishing boat.
New or Used?
Whether you buy your boat new or used is up to you, but again there are advantages and disadvantages to each. Used boats hold their value much longer, but outboard motors generally come with a short shelf life. If you buy a used boat, make sure you check out any motor that comes with before you use it. A used boat is generally going to be much cheaper, which is another advantage. Keep in mind that you often get what you pay for, so if you get the boat very cheaply, you may have to do some repairs before you can use it.
A new boat has one huge advantage over a used one ” a warranty. Rather than have to fix it up before taking it out, you can hitch it up right away and be on your way to the lake! Youll also have a wider variety of options than you would when shopping for used boats. Whether new or used, check out the boat before buying.

Visitor medical insurance is considered to be the most important insurance considering the frequency of your travel. The management of travel and tourism industry has attributed to the rise in the number of times an ordinary person would travel.
For most people it is an idyllic alternative to spend a holiday. However there are some other reasons as well for which people travel to other countries. Some people like seeing foreign lands, while some others travel just because they have to visit their relatives. Some people also need to travel for their business. Thus traveling has become very common and therefore visitor medical insurance is being looked upon by insurance companies as a product which can get them a number customers.
Generally people would join a visitors insurance for making provisions for sudden expenses they may need to bear during their visit. Basically the idea of visitor insurance is similar to the other types of insurance like life insurance, etc. The insurance companies collect money from you in the form of premium and combine it with the premiums received from other customers to form a central pool of money.
This money is then use to pay for medical bills of contributors who may require medical guidance while you visit a foreign country. The visitor is insured till the time he continues to pay his premiums. The utility of the insurance scheme is accounted for in the manner in which it can be subscribed to. It is immaterial if you are no even physically present in order to have a policy in one’s name.
Make sure you join a plan from a company who has office or center in the country which is to be visited. Though the premiums for such countries are higher, such plans are a better choice because of the convenience of claiming for your compensation, which is guaranteed in this case. The reason why it is convenient is that the doctors or hospitals in that country accept the insurance cards of companies having centers in their country.
The doctors and clinics are generally reluctant to accept the cards of some other country or certain medical institutes may not be familiar or associated with your native insurance providers. It becomes easy for the hospitals and clinics to get in touch with the native office if any problem regarding insurance policy arises. The same thing would be difficult or even impossible if the insurance have been purchased in a foreign land.
Once visitors insurance is purchased, the insurance holder is given an identification card that needs to be displayed at the time of seeking medical assistance from a hospital or doctor. The insurance company will furnish such a clinic or hospital with written instructions for the likely medical expenses that can be claimed under the policy.
After this any claim that you make, will be evaluated by the insurance company and it will make the hospital or clinic appropriate payments on your behalf. Some companies also cover injuries under visitor medical insurance and visitor health insurance which you may have to bear because of accidents, war or terrorist activities. Depending upon the plan, the companies may either reimburse the costs you incur during the treatment or it can also directly pay your bills at the concerned clinic or hospital.

At this point you might have already decided that Cuba is the place that you want to visit for your next long hold destination but perhaps need some guidance on the actual booking process. This might seem a little bit trivial but it is without doubt not the case trying to arrange a holiday to Cuba .
The truth is that this Caribbean island is becoming ever more popular every year and this creates a dilemma for some travel agents . Cuba is not a late booking destination, at least not if you are planning to go in the so called high season.
In Cuba high season, comprises Easter period and the summer months of July and August, predominantly popular among people travelling with kids . November, December, January, February and March are awfully trendy months especially among the European tourists in search of a warm country to avoid few days of miserable weather.
Rather frequently I get people calling requesting me to sort out a holiday for them in these particular months , but sometimes the enquiry comes too late . This is frustrating, mutually for the client and myself . For one simple thing , I can not excel recommending a package holiday for the fact that the most attractive resorts and best hotels are completely sold out , and then I am left with the only honest response I can give. “I am really sorry but at this point there are no hotels available in the areas that you are interested ”
If you want to stay in big resorts then there is not much to be concerned about. The problem presents it self when customers are interested in combining areas like Havana, Viales Valley, Las Terrazas, Cienfuegos, Trinidad and or Santiago de Cuba. Areas like these with the exception of Havana are very limited when it comes to hotel availabilities.
If you have your mind set to arrange a tailor made holiday to Cuba in a popular season my advice to you is to start with the arrangements at least 4 months prior to departure in order to secure not only the rooms in your preferred hotels but also the best deal from the carriers . If you regrettably did not come across this piece of writing before and are thinking about a multi centre holiday to Cuba, there is always a possibility to find something available but is not going to be the kind of holiday that we wish for you.
If you are travelling in the low season months you could call even few days before your departure date . Even so we feel very confident to put together the kind of itinerary that will fulfil your holidays
I truly hope you have found this article a useful resource and wish you the very best when visiting Cuba .

Think of Scotland and you will most probably immediately think of tartan, think of Scottish music and you will, most likely, think of the bagpipes or the fiddle. Yes Scotland is well known for both it’s tartan and it’s bagpipes and traditional Scottish music is known (and practiced) across the globe. While traditional Scottish music remains incredibly popular Scotland is a diverse nation and this is extremely apparent in it’s music. While the whole of the U.K. has seen a marked increase in the number of annual music festivals, Scotland seems to have exploded musically with festivals celebrating all types of music from the traditional to the bang up to date sounds of the DJ and modern rock/pop. The Rockness music festival, held near Inverness in the Scottish Highlands, saw a strange mix of modern dance acts and DJ’s alongside the latest pop acts and up and coming rock bands. So Scotland is not just bagpipes and tartan!
Music has always had a vital role to play in the culture of the nation of Scotland. From the imposing sounds of the bagpipes on the battlefield to the traditional folk songs documenting historic events music and onto the sounds of the Gaelic Psalms and the fun of the traditional ceilidh band, music appears in most aspects of Scottish life and history. However Scottish music has never remained static, it is forever changing as new influences take hold and new instruments and technologies are developed the sounds of Scotland have embraced change. Today the music of Scotland is amongst the most diverse of any nation from the staunch traditionalists to the bold new pop acts all are distinctively Scottish in essence and there are many music festivals to choose from where you can hear the very best of Scotland alongside others from around the world.
Scottish music festivals cater for all tastes in music and, whatever style or genre you appreciate most, there is bound to be a festival suitable for you. If you enjoy traditional Celtic sounds and some of the modern fusion bands then a visit to Celtic Connections of the Hebridean Celtic Festival will introduce you to both the well known and the most modern Celtic influenced acts around. On the other hand if you prefer the more modern sounds the likes of Tartan Heart, Wickerman and Rockness present a mix of the most modern and popular acts alongside the up and coming acts of the future.
Rockness is something really special, amazing music in the most beautiful surroundings. Loudsound and Slingshot must have been dancing with delight when Clune Farm, Dores, allowed them to use the farm for the festival as it has the most breathtaking scenery around and mind blowing views across Loch Ness. It seems strange to be driving along the narrow country lanes to stumble upon a vibrant and colorful festival site on the banks of Loch Ness and the organizers have done an incredible job in making sure that there is little disruption to the area and that traffic rarely, if ever, comes to a standstill. Transportation links are excellent with buses from around the U.K. and Inverness only a few miles away.
The first festival was held on Saturday 24 June 2006 and was mainly a dance event headlined by the popular DJ Fatboy Slim on the main stage and Daft Punk in the Clash Arena (a big top tent) with an attendance of around 10,000. The following year saw the event extended to two days. Again it was mainly a dance event with the Chemical Brothers headlining the first day and the rock act Manic Street Preachers headlining the second. Daft Punk again appeared in the Clash Arena which held only 10,000 capacity, as it was soon filled the sides of the tent were soon lifted to allow the full, 30,000 strong, crowd to enjoy their performance.
In it’s third year Rockness retained the two day format with the first day being primarily a dance event (with Fatboy Slim headlining for the 2nd time) and the second day having a number of rock/pop acts performing (Razorlight headlining the main stage). With a crowd estimated at 35,000+ the site appeared crowded at times but the Clash Arena and smaller tents provided entertainment by the likes of Underworld and Pete Tong. When the main event was over the smaller tents continued until the early hours and the party continued in the camp sites until the next day!
Sadly there was a death this year and around 10 arrests which marred the reputation somewhat. The cause of death is unknown at this time but the weather was extremely hot and the atmosphere ecstatic so alcohol and dehydration are the likely culprits as drugs did not appear to be a problem. When you consider the fact that the crowd was over 35,000 and all were partying it is incredible how friendly and safe the environment was. Imagine a town or city center with such a crowd of revelers I am sure the statistics would be far worse!
Although Rockness can be considered “family friendly” (I went with my wife and kids and the majority were teenagers and younger) Wickerman and Tartan Heart are far more suitable for the family. Both festivals are absolutely amazing for their friendly crowd with kids running around freely and, when close to the stage, the youngsters are often equipped with ear defenders!
Rockness is over for another year (see Rockness Photos) but if you are planning to visit Inverness see our listings of hotels in Inverness at http://www.invernesshotelscotland.com/

Fly fishing is a popular and exhilarating sport enjoyed around the world. Popular fly fishing destinations exist across the vast expanse of America with Alaska being one of the most favored by the discerning fly fisherman. One thing, besides the excellent fishing, that many of these wonderful places share is breathtaking scenery. Fly fishermen appreciate the unspoiled and natural beauty of the surroundings they enjoy while fly fishing and many are very keen conservationists.
Other continents offer superb fishing opportunities and the best fly fishing in the United Kingdom can be found across Scotland. The range of fishing in Scotland is incredible from the world renowned rivers of the Tay and Spey to the large famous lochs right down to the multitude of small salmon runs in many truly unique places such as the remote Outer Hebrides off the west coast of Scotland.
A fly fishing vacation in Scotland could see you fishing for Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout one day and the next you could be reeling in a huge Atlantic Salmon, Grayling or even a huge Pike. To make the most of your holiday you will need to understand the fishing seasons, luckily you are able to fish for Rainbow Trout all year round and there are plenty of well stocked lochs to be found in all Scottish districts. However different areas often have slightly different seasons for fishing Salmon and Brown Trout.
Generally the Salmon fishing season runs from February through to late October and the season for fishing Brown Trout is usually from the middle of March until the end of September/beginning of October. If you are planning a fishing trip to Scotland it is often best to arrange a package vacation or to book a hotel in Scotland which has fly fishing. Many hotels across Scotland have their own fishing rights and private fishing and nearly all are within easy reach of prime fly fishing locations.
Package deals reduce the stress of organization and allow you more time to enjoy your vacation. There is no need to worry about arranging your fishing permit, fly fishing tackle, choosing the best rod or reel as such things are usually taken care of with a wide choice of equipment available. If you decide to organize your own fishing trip it may be worthwhile contacting your hotel for advice, just let them know that you plan to spend time fly fishing and they should be able to furnish you with all manner of local information to help make your time in Scotland memorable.
Employing the services of a local gillie is always a wise decision, gillies know the local waters well, they know all the best spots and what are the most successful flies and tackle. They will also know exactly where to get the correct fishing permits for each location. If you don’t use a gillie nearly all permits are available locally and your hotel will know where you should apply.
Fly fishing can be enjoyed by all of the family and Scotland has fishing suitable for all skill levels. There are many A.P.G.A.I. (Advanced Pro Game Angling Instructor) qualified instructors to choose from all with suitable experience to enhance the skills of beginners and seasoned veterans alike. With such a wide and varied selection of fly fishing venues in Scotland it may be necessary for you to adapt your fly fishing technique to match the area and using a fully qualified fly fishing instructor will help you develop such skills. Again, if you ask at your Scottish hotel they will let you know where to find a suitable instructor. You never know you might learn something very useful.
Fishing in Scotland is great fun, so, when you are planning your next vacation give Scotland some serious consideration and I guarantee that you will not be disappointed.

Are you planning a cycling tour? Are you looking for endless quiet roads running through stunning scenery where you can experience, at close hand, incredible wildlife while being faced by the challenges of a demanding cycling tour? Have you considered the Hebrides of Scotland? The islands of the Hebrides offer, possibly, the best and most challenging cycling in the United Kingdom while also offering routes more suitable for those looking for a more gentle tour.
The wilderness of the Hebrides makes it appealing to a variety of sports including surfing, rock climbing, running cycling and many more. Over the years amenities and services have improved greatly with accommodation ranging from the top class hotels of Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis and Tarbert on the Isle of Harris to the small bed and breakfast establishments. For those looking for a truly unique experience there are a number of “blackhouses” (small thatched cottages) available to rent. For those looking for a cheaper alternative the Hebrides have stunning beaches with machair (grass land just in from the beach) suitable for camping.
Cyclists are likely to appreciate the natural beauty of the Hebrides Isles, the air is pure, free from the pollution seen in so many areas today, the waters are crystal clear, so clear that you will need to be careful when exploring beaches as rock pools are usually far deeper than they look. One of the most exciting experiences to be enjoyed is also the most relaxing, waking up early morning taking a short walk to a beach with golden sands that run for miles is wonderful but to find that you are the only person there creates feelings that are difficult to describe.
Traveling along pleasant roads you will be flanked my mountains on one side and the sea on the other can be enjoyed with virtually no traffic, though it is important to be aware and pull over to the left when you hear a vehicle as you will find that you are sometimes on a single track road. For the brave there is always the option to go off-road and this is where things really start to get the adrenaline rushing through the veins. The terrain is difficult yet great fun, often sheep tracks can be easily followed but may suddenly disappear from beneath you, uphill challenges are plentiful and the views from high up are truly breathtaking.
When you do meet the people of the Hebrides you will notice how friendly and helpful they are. You will experience the roots of Gaelic culture on islands that are virtually free of crime. However the many benefits of the islands can also cause difficulties, you must ensure that your bike and other equipment is in perfect working order as, sometimes, you will be great distances from villages.
It is worth noting that nearly all of the businesses on the Isles of Lewis and Harris are closed on Sundays, on South Uist this is not a problem and on North Uist only some are closed.
There are several places to hire cycles across the islands, you will find the local tourist information offices extremely helpful in all aspects of your cycling tour of the Hebrides.

To make travel more enjoyable and less stressful (owing to how often things go wrong) it is often a good idea to re-iterate a few simple rules that can help prevent disaster. These things can often ruin a vacation and leave a bad taste in the mouth for a particular location; they can even be expensive! Nobody wants to spend time in a Police station while they are on vacation, much less being too afraid to go out. It is easy to drop your guard when you are on vacation and enjoying yourself but this is when you are most vulnerable so traveling safely relies on your common sense to guide you.
No matter what the situation is, trust what your instincts tell you as they are very rarely wrong. It is a common mistake for many travelers to carry all of their valuables with them in the belief they are safer, this could not be further from the truth. Expensive and necessary items like identification tickets for example should be left at the hotel in their safe or the room safe if you have one; it is much easier to recover your vacation if you only lose a few important belongings instead of all of them.
A handy tip is to place a small amount of money in a number of locations like bags or pockets then if you happen to lose a bag, visa card or money, you will still have something there to keep you going until it can be resolved.
Many couples who have not adopted the travel safely ethos will have 2 credit cards, both accessing the same account; it is much easier to use two cards, each accessing separate accounts so if one is lost or stolen, there is a backup. A big thing now is bag and camera snatching from people strolling along, often in the road and unaware of the potential danger so make sure you wear the backpack on your back and sling your camera over your head and shoulder.
Always avoid letting something hang from your shoulder next to the road as it is easy to grab something from the back of a motorbike as it passes you. Everyone has heard the stories of different confidence tricks that have happened to vacationers because they are relaxed and let their guard down but the truth is these people do this sort of thing for a living.
We can become complacent believing it will not happen or we are cleverer than them but this is how they make their living and in many cases the way that they feed their family every day. If you carry a bag of any kind, buy yourself a small padlock or combination lock as the few dollars you spend will be well worth it as it will deter the majority of sneak thieves. To prevent keys being lost or stolen try attaching them to a climber’s D-shackle that you can place on your belt or pack of some sort, this should help stop anyone trying to snatch them quickly from you.
Most guys (and some girls) will place their wallets in the back pocket of their jeans or shorts making them an easy target for pick pockets; so change your habit and place wallets in the front pockets or perhaps buy a bum bag or money belt. Many of the problems outlined above happen only when people let their guard down; traveling safely does not mean you have to be paranoid, just prepared and use common sense and you will have an enjoyable vacation.
