The beautiful and historic Greek island of Crete is a great place to visit to learn about Greek culture and history. However, there is something for all types of tourists on Crete. Some may prefer the more populous tourist attractions, luxurious accommodations and beaches, while some may prefer the more authentic feel of the ancient Minoan ruins.
Heraklion is the largest city in Crete. Home to approximately 140,000 people, this is also the site of the ruins of Knossos. These ruins date to the Bronze Age. If you’re a history buff, you won’t want to miss this well preserved site. Be sure to swing by Venizelous Square as well. This is a very beautiful place, as is Morosini Fountain. If you’re a sports fan, be sure to take in a soccer match. Crete has two teams, the Ergotelis FC and the OFI Crete. Both teams are based out of Pankritiko Stadium.
Chania is another spot to see on a Crete holiday. Smaller than Heraklion, this town of 55,000 is located in the northwest part of the island. Be sure to see the Old Town while you’re there, there are walls (and the harbor there) dating from the times of Venetian influence on the island. In the newer parts of the city, the Courthouse, the clock tower on Dimokratias Street, and the Public Gardens are all worth a look.
One of the largest castles on Crete is to be found in Rethymno, which is also home to an annual Wine Festival in July; other intersting festivals are held in the town as well. If you’re interested in attending the Wine Festival however. be sure to book ahead; it can be hard to find lodging during this very popular event.
Lake Voulismeni should not be passed over. You’ll find it near the town of Agios Nikolaos. Bronze Age ruins may be seen here as well. To get a feel for the culture of Crete, Agios Nikolaos is a place you should consider.
Crete is the largest Greek island and one of the largest islands in the Mediterranean. With its stellar climate it can be quite a busy tourist spot during various seasons throughout the year. Although it is an island, it is easy to get to. You can either board one of the many ferries or tour ships or catch a flight from the mainland of Greece or various other places.
So, if you are planning a Crete holiday, make sure to include these cities on your list of places to see. They each hold many historical sites and cultural attractions that will make your visit to Crete unforgettable. Take advantage of your holiday in Crete and submerse yourself in this unique island.

Senior citizen age is considered by many to be the golden age of life. There are no children left to raise and release out into the world. There is no full-time job holding back aspirations of world travel. There are often no financial restrictions on life either. The sky is the limit and there is virtually nothing a senior citizen can not do.
Find Out About Travel Insurance Today!
As a senior citizen, travel insurance is a must have when planning your dream holiday. A senior citizen travel insurance package protects you against cancellations (by either the travel agent or yourself) and other unforeseen circumstances. Most good travel insurance providers offer insurance packages for senior citizens above the age of 65, although there are also packages available for those above the age of 50.
Senior citizen travel insurance is provided in two formats; annual travel or single trip coverage. Annual travel is ideal for individuals who take a variety of vacations over the course of the year. Single trip coverage is, as the name implies, for a single travel event. Coverage details vary from company to company. Receive quotes from several different travel insurance companies. Compare each policy in detail to find the one that suits individual needs at an affordable price.
All Inclusive Details
A good senior citizen travel insurance package will provide all inclusive coverage, including cover for theft and/or loss of luggage. Some senior citizen insurance packages also cover medical services and emergency assistance.
It is of utmost importance that you review your travel insurance policy in great detail. Ensure that you are aware of your coverage. Your package should provide financial cover for a variety of mishaps that may occur while enjoying the holiday of your dreams.
Look Before Signing
Do not rush into a decision regarding a senior citizen travel insurance policy. It is imperative that you study the agreement fully before committing to a policy. Ensure that your policy covers all eventualities. If the policy that you are reviewing does not grant you sufficient coverage, try another travel insurance agent.
Travel insurance policies are considered legally binding in a court of law. If you do not understand anything in the contract, do not hesitate to ask for further clarification. You can never ask too many questions. If your travel insurance agent is not willing to answer all your questions, find one who is. It is vitally important that you are entirely satisfied with your senior citizen travel insurance package.
Senior citizen travel insurance will provide you with peace of mind while enjoying your travel adventures. It is a sensible financial undertaking that will give you the freedom to explore all of your travel desires, wherever in the world it is that you wish to go.

Among the many useful camping tips, safety is the most important tip to consider. Familiarizing yourself with the area or bringing a navigational tool, for instance, are important, but you should also be sure to have at least a basic first aid kit.
Every camper wishes for the perfect, injury-free trip, but obviously there is no guarantee which is why a proper first aid kit should at least include bandages of varying sizes, scissors and antibiotic ointment or crme. Be sure to purchase a kit containing all of the essential items you may need, though hopefully will not. If you ultimately find yourself in a position to need such items, you will then understand the importance of safety and first aid preparation.
Other important tips include brining a night light to use at night when outside the tent. Not only does this make returning to the campsite easier at night, it also deters possible intruders. A night light also provides lighting in the dark to help prevent falls or injuries while walking around the campsite.
Now, you may be in a reserved campsite area, but you still must consider the local wildlife. It is always a good idea to keep food off the ground and secured in you car or a camping trailer. Many campers hang their food up in the trees, which can help, but secured in a car or trailer is the number one option. It is not strangely uncommon for bears to enter campgrounds looking for food, in addition to squirrels or raccoons which will also search campgrounds for food.
Though there are many items you will want to pack, some are more essential than others. For instance, aluminum foil is very important for cooking as it makes it not only the cooking easier but also the clean up easier. You should also bring water purifying tables in the event the water tastes odd, as well as insect repellent, clothing for any type of weather, and a car charger for your mobile phone if you have one. Of course, don’t forget the cell phone which is a smart item to bring camping in case of emergency.
If there will be children with you, be sure to have things for them to do such as bikes, board games and even a small portable DVD player for movies. A playpen is a good idea if toddlers will be joining you.
If you are brining pets on your camping trip, you will want to keep them in a shaded area and out of the direct sunlight. A small pop-up tent, like a child’s play tent, is perfect for pets. Simply place the water and food nearby outside the tent entrance and they will be content.
These are only a few tips you will want to consider when preparing for an outdoor vacation such as camping. Some other useful tips can be found online at various camping websites to help ensure you have a smooth, fun journey to the great outdoors!

Even if I am considered to be a weirdo or old-fashioned yet I do not refrain from saying that I do find something very classy about the wooden picnic tables. I really do not remember when we had got the first wooden picnic table at our home. I only remember that it was when I was just a child. I can only remember how excited my dad was and though am not fully sure, he had built the table himself or may be at least had gathered the items from a kit and fixed them. I do remember the first picnic that we had at our backyard and also vividly remember one ladybug that was crawling along the table. How long did I keep staring at it, I do not remember but this much I know that the ladybug fascinated me beyond words and I just could not get enough of watching it crawl far and wide.
Though it was right at the backyard of our own home and so I would not call it a picnic yet I remember the lunch was great that day. We had cold cuts, bread and home-made potato salad that my mother was famous for. The thought of it still brings water to my mouth. I remember my mother bringing them out and laying them on the picnic table and how we dug in them. We had surely a heavy lunch that day as I remember that straight after the lunch I had stretched myself on the grass for hours and looked at the sky and the clouds for several hours since I was much interested in them as a child. I remember staring at the new table too for quite a long time.
Just at present as I am on my own and need one to buy, I have to see the wooden picnic table from a different angle. This one is a harder task. From the look any or every picnic table is the same but once you sit on it you would realize immediately that it is not the whole thing. As a matter of fact a bigger picnic table is sturdy and long lasting in the long run and you would surely be satisfied to own one. In case a wooden picnic table is reinforced with concrete or steel then it becomes better as it would last even longer. But one must remember that a sturdy look is not enough for a picnic table. As it is generally kept out in the lawn it has to be strong enough to ward off weather extremities and there lies the goodness of its quality.

Tip 1 – Most of the holiday homes for rent in Ireland are owned by private individuals and so the standard in which they are maintained can vary greatly from one property to the next. If you are considering renting a holiday home for your next vacation then do so through a reputable agent who requires and insists on high standards of maintenance and care on the properties they have on their books.
Tip 2 – You should be aware that when it comes to renting a holiday home the dates on which you are able to rent them will vary from if you were selecting to stay in a hotel. Most rental agreements will run from Saturday to Saturday and there are very few who can offer alternatives to this. Plus you need to be aware that you will not be able to get until the property until around mid afternoon as this provides the agents with enough time to get the property prepared for your visit.
Tip 3 – The price at which a property is rented out at is not based often based on the size and quality of the accommodation, but rather on where it is located and when you are looking to stay in it. If you would like to get a good deal on good quality accommodation you may find opting for a property in a less popular part of Ireland is the best choice.
Tip 4 – When you have found your ideal holiday home and you want to make sure that you get it, and then you may need to book it well in advance of your vacation dates. Often doing this may save you money, but be prepared to hand over a deposit to the agency to ensure that the accommodation is held for you and no one else can then book it.
Tip 5 – It is important that you know exactly what is included in the price for renting the property before you make your booking. Most rental agreement prices cover all amenities such as heating, electricity and bed linen plus other items that one would expect in a home. However, you may discover that if you want to say bring your pet on holiday with you then a further fee will be charged for doing so.
Tip 6 – When you are looking to save money on your holiday home it is a good idea to try and arrange it for a time when there are going to be less visitors to the area. However, you may find some places, which offer their accommodation at a more reasonable price even during high season simply because they are located in areas that are less popular with visitors.

Traveling with a carry-on bag offers many benefits. Firstly, there is no risk finding out that the airline sent your bag to Bangkok while you just arrived in New York. You will also find yourself breezing past all those other travelers waiting to check in or to pick up their bags.
Most people think that they need pack everything but the kitchen sink in order to survive their trip. But in reality, traveling for a week is the same as traveling for a month. Provided you can wash you clothes, you won’t need to pack anymore than a week worth of clothes.
Not convinced? Check out the suggestion below on how to travel light and fast.
Six Ways to Travel Light
1. Use a Small Carry-On Bag – this is for two main reasons. Firstly, you will be sure to meet the carry-on requirements of the airline. Secondly, it will force yourself to pack only what you really need.
2. Buy travel versions of essential items – you can buy miniaturized or smaller versions of tooth brushes, tooth paste tubes, razors and hair dryers.
3. Make 3 Piles – put everything you think you need into three groups. One group is for what you can’t live with out, the second is for what would be handy and the third is what you really don’t need. Now get rid of the second and third group.
4. Clothes – carry the bare minimum but make sure that every top suits the bottoms that you take. That way you can get several outfits with just a small number of clothes. And by the way, be careful about packing jeans if you are going to a place with rainy whether. They are heavy when wet and don’t dry well.
5. Two Pairs of Shoes Only – provided that the shoes can go with both your work and casual outfits, most often you really only need two pairs.
6. When you arrive home and start to unpack, think about what things that you packed you could leave behind the next trip that you go on.
